CHEETAR ADVANCED SPRINT PROGRAMME

advancedYoung athletes participating in the Cheetar Advanced program will be required to be between the ages of 14- 18 years old and of suitable athletic ability to take full advantage of its advanced training facilities to develop to the next level.

Concentrating on the fundamentals of strength and power the advanced program will incorporate all Olympic lifting disciplines along with precision strength coaching  on squats, front squats, split squats and various upper strength exercises.

Athletes involved with the advanced program will combine the weight lifting disciplines with resistance work such as sled sprints and keiser running under direct supervision and strict technical input from certified strength and conditioning specialists.

Athletes will at all times be challenged to progress in line with their unique developmental pathway, to put on lean muscle, increase strength and harness their explosive power.

Cheetar Athlete Development Model

For Cheetar Advanced Athletes the following model has been adapted to build a training programme.

Model Diagram

It is important in this 'Building the Engine' phase that strength training is optimised so that the speed work that has been introduced in the Cheetar Sprint Programme is not wasted.

Cheetar Advanced Programme athletes will rely upon this strength to improve their speed furtherand in turn harness their full potential to become more powerful.

It takes 10 years of extensive practice to excel in anything (H. Simon Laureate)
Within that 10 year period the athletes on the Cheetar Advanced Programme will have the opportunity to become future elite athletes because of the head start that they can get in the 'Building the Engine' phase.

Training to Train - 'Building the Engine'
Female athletes are between the ages of 11 and 15
