NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF YOUNG ATHLETES

Hundreds of pounds is spent each year on coaching the tennis backhand, swerving a football, flicking a
hockey ball, perfecting the spin pass and bowling a cricket ball. Yet modern young athletes struggle to sprint to first base.

The Cheetar Sprint Programme harnesses the athletic potential of youngsters by targeting the very source from which all sporting success is determined......Speed!

CHEETAR SPRINT PROGRAMME

The Cheetar Sprint Programme was conceived when Coach Anson went to a conference in the United States in 2009. He met one of the speakers who had coached some track and field athletes in preparation for the 2012 Olympics and intimated that there was a major drive to ensure that athletes were fitter, stronger and more powerful from a younger age.

After an extended period researching journals on coaching young athletes Coach Anson recognized that here in the UK very little is done to improve an athlete’s strength, speed, power and fitness outside of their sport.  On top of this young athletes in the UK spend a large percentage of their time in front of computers roaming the internet, playing games on play-stations or indeed in front of televisions.

Coach Anson realized that with his own professional background combined with Coach Twiggs and Coach Walkers professional expertise there was an opportunity to change the modern trend by providing young athletes with the opportunity to excel in sport from a younger age by harnessing the fundamental ingredients that for one reason or another are generally missing.

CHEETAR ADVANCED PROGRAMME

advancedThe Cheetar Advanced Programme has been developed to take athletes to the next level of their sport career pathway. Athletes graduating from the Cheetar Sprint Programme should not go back into the routine of practicing for their sport alone. The next four years in their physical development is vital and may be the difference between success and failure at the elite level.

With the Advanced Programme the athletes have an advantage over their rivals in that they have access to some of the best weight training equipment and facilities in professional sport combined with the expertise of three professional coaches.

Olympic lifting has been shown time and time again to be the single most beneficial strength and power development tool. Provided that athletes have the right instruction and technique that is drilled by the Cheetar Advanced Coaches the athletes will increase their muscle size, strength and power. All three of these will contribute to an increase in the athlete’s speed.
